Well I’m excited to announce that I recently had my first book review printed; a copy can be found online should you wish to see it now. I reviewed Sharon Butala’s second memoir titled Where I Live Now: A Journey Through Love and Loss to Healing and Hope. Spoiler alert-I really enjoyed it!
There is absolutely nothing bah humbug about this book. Losing yourself in the magic and “Christmassyness” of it all is a wonderful addition to any Christmas reading traditions, and may just have become one of mine.
Netflix and amazon and all those other things that everyone has at the touch of a button or the swipe of a smart phone these days are all well and good but I still put a trip to the cinema high on my list of favorite, and in particular favorite autumn / winter things to do.
Belgrava certainly provides all the above and below stairs gossip and drama any period drama fan might be looking for.
Sometimes we miss out on some amazing titles that don’t make it on these lists, so for my most recent book segment on the CBC, I wanted to draw attention to the hidden gems that are still worth our time.
What I did take from Autumn was the feeling of hope. Despite unsettling times, the friendship between Elizabeth and Mr. Gluck offered hope and promise of a better way.
