I may be living under a rock because it took me until now to learn about Nahko and Medicine for the People. Have you heard of them? (If yes, please smile politely to your computer screen). What I enjoyed most about them was their sincerity — sincerity in their music and in what they stand for. The lyrics, sung by Nahko, are attention-worthy and serve a greater purpose than to merely entertain.

“As a musical collective, our mission is to be the motivation and inspiration for all that have become members of our Tribe. Within our global community, we have access to the tools needed to make changes, take action and spread awareness of how to live in harmony with Mother Gaia herself. We are honored to be a force of attraction for positive and creative minds during these often-corrupt times. With your trust and support, we humbly accept this role and speak our prayers of intention to take direct action… “Hoka Hey” means, “today is a good day to die”, but perhaps with your help, it could transform into a better day to live. Thank you again for your love and support. Tribe members, let us come together today to be the change that we wish to see tomorrow.

Respect and love,

Nahko and Medicine for the People

In service to their mission, Nahko supports a number of causes that stem from aiding Native American communities, creating awareness for the environment, upholding journalistic vales and personal narratives, and fighting hunger in the united states, just to name a few. | Causes

Using Your Plaform For Good

What makes a well-known public figure choose to use their creative/artistic platform to support such important causes? It must be in the core of the individual. It must stem from an acquired belief in placing value to people and topics traditionally undervalued.

Nahko are an inspiring example of what can be done by those in the limelight. Their music is a collection of motivations, of encouragements, of values, and of thought provoking inspiration. I truly enjoyed reading about the individuals who make up this beautiful band and about their causes. Please make some time to watch and listen to their music. “What’s the big vision role you see yourself and your music filling?

N: I think just social empowerment really. Just helping people find what it is that they can do to give back to our society in a healthy way and obviously get back to being a caretaker for our environment.” Sex, Drugs and Spirituality: An Interview with Nahko Bear
