Blog Forum • Week of August 16 – 19 2016: What does Tenacity mean to you? | (The Purpose Of The Black Lion Journal’s Blog Forum)

Jerika Bolen, a 14 year old young lady who suffers from type 2 spinal muscular atrophy, plans to attend her prom, her “last dance”, before she has scheduled to die at the end of August by removal of her ventilator — The viral image of Ieshia Evans, taken by photographer Jonathan Bachman, has become one of many impacting images of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. Her presence represents stoic symbolism much attributed to Lady Liberty standing in Ellis Island since her official dedication on October 28, 1886 — A post by Feminewbie and her experience with racial profiling, in reference to Ieshia Evans’s image, is one that is powerful and memorable.

Tenacity comes in many forms. The Black Lion is humbled to share their stories — Three inspiring people, inspiring women, who had the courage to make their voice heard and to hold true to their convictions. TBL Journal leaves you with this week’s question: What does Tenacity mean to you?
